PC Replacement Survey

In preparation for the 2008 PC Replacement Program, the eiNetwork is launching  a Web survey to gain a better understanding of  the  public usage of library computers. This survey was approved by the Steering Committee at the June, 28th meeting.  If you would like to review this survey, please click here.

In order to gather as much data as possible about patron usage,  the eiNetwork is providing the following two options for making the survey available to libraries which choose to participate:

Option 1: The first option will include a survey notice popup window which will be mounted on your library s’ homepage.

If your library chooses this option,  once your library's homepage is visited, the survey notice window will automatically appear in the foreground prompting patrons to take the survey and your library homepage will be the destination pages which displays in the background. The popup window will remind patrons to take the survey only once.  Click here to view an example (note: If your browser blocks pop-ups, set off the block; otherwise, you will not be able to see this popup window).

Patrons accessing the library homepage remotely will need to turnoff popup blocking in their browsers or they will not be able to see the survey window.

Option 2: The second option for libraries is to add a survey link and an icon as follows to the library homepage.

Library Computer Use Survey

For libraries choosing this option, patrons will have to click the survey icon or the link to gain access to the survey questionaire.  It will not  automatically prompt users to take the survey as it will in Option 1.

Libraries may select either option to promote this survey on their homepages. However, the eiNetwork believes that Option 1 will create an opportunity for more library patrons to know about the survey.

The following are the instructions for implementing Option 1 and 2 on your library homepage. If your library needs assistance adding one or both options to your homepage you can contact the support center (412- 622-3146 ) for assistance.
