Most printers and barcode scanners were originally purchased by the eiNetwork on behalf of libraries with grant funds, and the equipment associated with these grants was installed long ago. Since this initial equipment installation, many libraries have needed or chosen to add new printers, barcode scanners, and other equipment at their own expense. Unlike PCs, printers and scanners have a longer life span usually between three and five years, and during this three to five year time frame the equipment requires little maintenance.
Libraries may want to consider planning for equipment replacements and additions. The eiNetwork Support Center will be happy to consult with libraries to identify the correct equipment for your particular library's needs. In addition, the eiNetwork will support libraries in ordering and installing equipment.
