eiNetwork
Email Terms of Service
Last updated: 11 September 2000
eiNetwork email accounts are made
available to staff and associates of eiNetwork
member libraries in order to facilitate communications with fellow employees,
to acquire information related to performance of duties, and generally to
support public service and professional development. The eiNetwork does not
support the use of these email accounts for personal purposes.
Electronic mail is provided by the eiNetwork
under the following terms:
- The eiNetwork does not guarantee that this
free email service will be uninterrupted, error- or virus-free. No
liability is assumed for any damages suffered by users in connection with
use of or inability to use eiNetwork
email accounts. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data,
service interruptions, or inadvertent release or disclosure of
information.
- The eiNetwork will maintain privacy of eiNetwork email accounts insofar as
possible, but users are reminded that email is not a secure means of
communication.
- If a employee leaves their
current employer or is terminated, the eiNetwork
will maintain their email account up to 10 business days following their
last day. After that time, the eiNetwork reserves the right to remove
that account and its contents without further notice.
- The eiNetwork reserves the right to monitor
email use and to disclose any information needed to satisfy law or
government request.
- eiNetwork
email accounts are not transferable. Use of an account is limited to the
individual in whose name the account was created. This individual is
responsible for all activity taking place on the account, and for
maintaining confidentiality of passwords.
- The eiNetwork reserves the right to suspend or
cancel the email account of any user at any time. No obligation to
maintain the content of cancelled accounts or to forward unread messages
is assumed.
In using an eiNetwork
email account, you agree that you will not use your account for any unlawful
purpose as defined by local, state, national and international law, including,
but not limited to, the following:
- Attempting to gain access to
other systems or to data belonging to other persons without express
consent of the owner
- Deliberate attempts to
degrade or disrupt system performance or to interfere with the work of
others
- Sending abusive or
threatening messages
- Use or distribution of
profane, obscene, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate language or
materials
- Continued harassment of
others by continuing to send email after being asked to stop
- Sending chain letters, junk
mail, or unsolicited mass postings (SPAMs)
- Advertising and sales,
fundraising, or other for-profit activities.
These activities are grounds for immediate suspension of eiNetwork email accounts.
